Construction Inclusion Week: What Inclusion Means at Harmon
Construction Inclusion Week was an opportunity to celebrate the people who make our industry stronger and continue building workplaces where everyone feels welcomed, valued and heard.
At Harmon, inclusion continues to come to life through the way we communicate, collaborate, and support one another every day. During Construction Inclusion Week, we asked our employees a simple question: “What does inclusion mean to you in the workplace?”
Here’s what they had to say!
Olivia, HR Manager (HQ)
“Feeling belonging and valued as an individual, not just as a role in the organization.”
Taje, Shop Tech I (Dallas MFG)
“Teamwork, equal opportunities, and respect.”
Elfido, Production Supervisor I (Dallas MFG)
“Every workstation has a toolbox. If all we have are hammers in our toolboxes, we are going to struggle with every job. The more perspectives and experiences we bring together, the better the results. This means I must ensure every team member feels respected, heard, and valued. It also means being open to ideas from anywhere. Experience has taught me that the person with the best answer isn’t always the loudest in the room.”
Nicko, Maintenance Tech I (Dallas MFG)
“Building an environment where everyone feels welcome.”
LaMartha, Office Administrator II (Dallas MFG)
“Inclusion in the workplace to me means everyone is included. No matter if you are a contractor, vendor, office employee or manufacturer, this construction industry supports equity and diversity! I have always felt welcomed and valued in this industry.”
Christopher, Journeyman (Chicago)
“Being together and in the know of safety awareness and knowing we are all in this together.”
Clay, Project Manager (Chicago)
“Accepting everyone in the workplace no matter where they come from.”
Herish, Sr. Preconstruction Manager (Seattle)
“To me, inclusion means creating a workplace where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging and respect, regardless of their background, beliefs, or perspectives. It means every person has the opportunity to be heard, valued, and contribute their ideas. Inclusion also means recognizing and appreciating people’s hard work, ensuring that contributions are acknowledged and that everyone feels they have a meaningful role in the team’s success.”
Hemely, Project Manager (Atlanta)
“It’s not just about having a seat at the table, but making sure everyone feels that they belong at it.”
Erin, Executive Administrator (HQ)
“Ensuring every employee is heard, valued, and given the resources to participate as fully as any other team member.”
Adriana, Office Administrator II (Seattle)
“Creating an environment where all employees feel valued and appreciated regardless of their background. I love being included and Harmon makes me feel valuable and involved every day. Every person is so nice and kind and makes me feel important and needed.”
Kelly, Sr. Paralegal (HQ)
“To me, inclusion in the workplace means treating everyone with respect, valuing different perspectives, and making sure people feel heard and appreciated. It’s about creating an environment where everyone feels comfortable being themselves, sharing their ideas, and knowing they are an important part of the team. I believe we all have a role in making that happen through the way we communicate, collaborate, and support one another every day.”
Building Inclusion Together
While Construction Inclusion Week puts an important spotlight on inclusion across our industry, creating a workplace where everyone feels valued is something we carry forward every day.
The perspectives shared by our employees are a reminder that each of us has a role to play. By listening, respecting different perspectives, creating opportunities for people to contribute and supporting one another, we can continue building a stronger workplace and a stronger construction industry together.
