Lake Harriet Bandshell

Harmon, Inc.’s volunteers and business partners completed the glass curtainwall renovation, which is the backdrop for the stage at the Minneapolis Lake Harriet Bandshell and part of a community music tradition that started in 1888.

Donating their time and materials to repair the 20-year-old facility and its 30-by-25-foot window wall, Harmon’s glaziers coordinated contributions and worked closely with Viracon, a glass fabricator based in Owatonna, Minn.

The current Lake Harriet Bandshell was opened in 1986. Time passed, budgets tightened and the facility fell into disrepair. To remedy this, local professionals formed a volunteer business alliance, in conjunction with the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board, to return the Lake Harriet Bandshell to its former glory. The all-volunteer restoration effort was completed at no cost to Minneapolis Park & Recreation, the City of Minneapolis or its taxpayers, and at no profit to the business participants.
