Doors and entrances are the most ignored maintenance area on a commercial building. Entrances are the first things you see when you go into a building and if a door is not working well, it immediately presents a bad impression of the
overall property.
Following proper installation of the entrance system, regular maintenance service will ensure longevity and functionality for the life of the building. Harmon strives to further reduce building owners’ and property managers’ liability through an ongoing, regularly scheduled, documented review of their systems’ maintenance and code requirements.

Partners for Performance
As with any door system, professional installation and maintenance is critical to smooth operation and proper performance. The majority of security revolving door manufacturers recommended maintenance, but once installed, most don’t get looked at until they break or a serious problem occurs. Along with decreasing the life of the equipment, this increases the potential loss in an emergency situation and the possible liability to building owners and property managers.
Entrances are the first things observed when approaching a building and if a door isn’t working well, it immediately makes a bad impression of the overall property. Sometimes, building owners think replacement and repair will be more of a inconvience to their tenants than going around a broken door. A specialty contractor can help alleviate these concerns by outlining a plan to minimize disruption to those living or working in the building.
Specialty glazing contractor Harmon, Inc. has overseen installations, repairs and replacements for thousands of doors in hundreds of buildings across the country. Harmon helps its customers reduce liability, save on unexpected repair costs and prolong the life of their buildings' entrances. The key to Harmon’s approach is to conduct regularly scheduled inspections through a documented review of maintenance and code requirements for building entrnances.
Many building owners and maintenance teams are unaware of the layers of changing codes pertaining to entrances. Among the list are: Americans with Disabilities Act, which affects all doors and entrances; the National Fire Protection Act, which requires collapsible wings on automatic revolving doors; and additional standards set by American Association of Automatic Door Manufacturers and American National Standards Institute.
The key to a successful entrance installation is to partner with a specialty contractor that has an in depth of knowledge they can share with the building team. Working closely with door manufacturers, installing subcontractors, electricians, consultants and property managers, they can assess and apply the right entrance product to the right situation, ultimately meeting the building owner’s security and tenant needs.
